In Her Own Words: Stefanie Kurgatt

Hello Everyone. State is this week, I can’t believe it. I will not get all sappy with my blog just yet, because we still have one more meet left. Sorry parents, after state the emotions will come spilling out. Until then only excitement and adrenaline is in me. Last week Maclay competed in the Regional meet at Bishop Snyder and that went really well. Along with grabbing two team titles, ten girls and nine boys qualified for state. We have some young amazing stars on the team that continue to amaze me each and every day. We were all really pumped and it has been an exciting week thus far. This past Monday was pretty nice as Coach Droze and a few parents prepared a fish fry for us after practice. It was great to just have everyone hanging out after and having a good time. Thanks coach for the delicious fish!

This week many of us are either competing at a regional or state meet. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten this far, it is an achievement in itself.  It is time to really finish off with a bang and leave a mark on the track. There are probably many different emotions going on in your mind right now, and that is perfectly okay. But just remember when it comes down to it, it is just another meet; go out there give your heart. Do what you do best, and that is compete! Whether you are running, jumping, throwing or pole vaulting, have faith in your ability and results will happen. The whole season you have been working hard at practice and now it is time to show everyone what you’ve got. Always remember you are in Track and Field because that is the sport you love to do. No matter what, enjoy yourself. It might be painful, it might take a lot from within you, but you would not be doing it if you did not like it. Track is a nation, in which we all come together and put out the best of us. Each and every one of us possesses the courage and determination to go further than ever imagined. We are in a sport that has no limits, time to soar higher than never before (and for you jumpers… take that literally). Best of luck and always believe in yourself.

A little side step to the collegiate scene, Georgetown will be competing at Penn Relays this weekend. That meet is huge, and I wish everyone there the best of luck.
A little quote for everyone:  "Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude is how well you do it."  -Lou Holtz . God Speed!
