In Her Own Words: Stefanie Kurgatt - College Adjustments Stefanie Kurgatt Nov 20, 2013

Hello Flrunners! It’s been awhile but rest assured I have been checking up on all the brilliant running that has been happening down south. Keep it up superstars! Congratulations to all the runners who competed in this past cross country season. To those who competed at the state meet be proud,. You have accomplished more than you probably had imagined. Also I have seen some great college choices and commitments. I know to the seniors this was a stressful process for you all. All the hard work is paying off, do not stop now though. Your future is as bright as you make it.

Hello everyone, so last Friday was my last state meet, and boy was it quite the experience. This blog is pretty much going to be a big thanks to everyone so bear with me.  First off, thank you to UNF for hosting the state meet, I always enjoy running there. Words cannot even begin to describe the emotions during our State meet. From the first race to the last there was just so much adrenaline and excitement from the Lady Marauders. Every single one of us did something beyond what we thought to help out the team. In the end we were able to pull out a team title and we are so grateful for our coaches and all the support we’ve gotten.

Hello Everyone. State is this week, I can’t believe it. I will not get all sappy with my blog just yet, because we still have one more meet left. Sorry parents, after state the emotions will come spilling out. Until then only excitement and adrenaline is in me. Last week Maclay competed in the Regional meet at Bishop Snyder and that went really well. Along with grabbing two team titles, ten girls and nine boys qualified for state.

Hello everyone. It is officially post season and many of us are preparing to do our last three meets ever for our respective high schools. What an overwhelming thought that can be. I know it has finally kicked in now that these are my last meets for Maclay.

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is having a great start to their week. I had to come back to reality as Spring Break has ended for me and I am back to school. Things are really starting to sink in as we only have a little over eight weeks of school left. I am nearing my last few high school track meets and every day goes by so quickly. Last week was FSU Relays and it was bitter sweet after racing that meet for five years in a row.

Hey there Flrunners! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week. It definitely is a good one for many of us here in Tallahassee. This week is out spring break and many of us are living it up at the beach and what not. It is so crazy how after spring break it is almost April and then school is practically over. For all the seniors, enjoy your last few months and live it to the fullest. You are about to open up a new chapter in your life. Enjoy and cherish every moment that you can because we are all growing up very quickly.

Habari! Hope Everyone is having an awesome week thus far. The days are certainly going by super fast, and I can’t believe that we are two weeks into March. As for that time change,  I can’t quite tell if I like that or not. After just stressing how important sleep is, losing an hour isn’t always great, but gaining some extra daylight at the end of the day isn’t so bad. So, I guess there is only one solution to this problem, everyone go to sleep an hour earlier.

Habari! Congrats to everyone who will be competing this coming weekend at State. I would like to make this blog a little different than the rest, basically a little bit of motivation for everyone who is a runner, competed in the 2012 cross country season, and preparing for the state meet on Saturday. You all deserve some major recognition for your achievements.

Habari! It’s been awhile, so I hope everyone is doing well as State steadily approaches. I have been slowly getting back to running and so far have no complaints. Everything has been going great and everyone at the UF Orthopedic Center helped me out so much. It has been a steady progression, but it is definitely an amazing feeling just to be back on the beautiful trails of Tallahassee.

Habari! Hope everyone is doing well, as the weather is cooling off. I absolutely love this weather.Tallahassee has been just gorgeous. Like always, Florida distance running is a powerhouse! Thanks for everyone who does the race recaps, they are wonderful, and it is nice to be updated on races that Maclay does not attend.

Habari! (I realized I always say “hello”’ in my blogs, so I figured I might change it up a bit and say it in Swahili). First and foremost, HUGE congrats to Estero runner Kacy Smith, for recently committing to Ole Miss. What a wonderful, talented young lady who only will continue to shine.

There have been some pretty impressive performances all throughout Florida and everyone is really showing that distance running in Florida is one to be reckoned with. Hello everybody! The first time I blogged, summer was winding down and I know we were all trying to get everything ready for school. Well now all of the runners have just completed either their first or second week of school!  It was my first week of school last week, and it maybe still has not kicked in that I am a senior.

Hello everybody! I hope you all are having a wonderful summer. My name is Stefanie Kurgatt and I am a rising senior at Maclay School.   I have been given the honor- along with other great runners in Florida- of writing a blog about the upcoming XC season.  I would like to thank Flrunners for giving me the opportunity to share my journey as the season progresses.

Congrats Carly: Our Baby Nole Stefanie Kurgatt May 30, 2012

I’ll try to make this short, but I don’t know how best I can do that considering all that Miss Thomas has done for the running in Tallahassee, in Florida and also for me. I do not even know where to begin and I could probably write a whole book on how amazing a person and athlete this young lady is. From a former teammate’s stand view, fellow competitor and best friend; I have seen Carly transform into one heck of a distance runner. She is one of my biggest competitors on the track and cross country course, and yes when we are out there it is pretty much a big battle field. But once off the course/track whoever prevails we congratulate and go back to being best friends. When I see her run, I see the fire in her eyes, the determination and the will to fight and work her hardest.
