The American University men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete at the George Mason Patriot Games on Saturday, January 28.

The Eagles are coming off a strong showing at the Maryland Invitational last weekend, where sophomore John Pope led American to a 1-2-3 finish in the 3,000 meter run with a personal best time of 8:35.53. Josh Olsen also recorded a top finish for the Eagles in the mile with his second place finish in a time of 4:19.01.

On the women's side, sophomore Ali Tyburski recorded the ninth fastest time in program history by finishing the mile in a personal-best 5:10.57. Tyburski's time was good for second while Julia Sullivan placed fourth in the event with a personal-best time of 5:14.36, the 10th fastest time in program history.

American will hope to duplicate last year's strong showing at the Patriot Games. Zach Wrightbested his own school record in the high jump to win the event. Octavia Rinehardt led the women's team with her third place finish in the 3,000 meter run.

A total of 17 schools will be competing in this year's event with the day beginning at 10 a.m.
