Three have gone under 22 seconds and three more have done sub 23. This one does have the potential to be determined by a lean at the finish. Medford sophomore Tristan Howard is the No. 1 seed with a state best of 21.70. Howard finished third in this event at the Coaches Invitational a couple of weeks ago, mere meters behind all-staters Phillips Magre (Somerville) and Mange Camara (Waterville). Howard will face two other gifted sprinters, Greater New Bedford's Dejury Amado (21.83) and freshman Jaichaun Jones of Beverly, who currently owns the fastest time for ninth-graders nationwide with a best of 21.90.
