St. Cloud Cathedral's Golebiowski Commits to Georgetown University

Nick Golebiowski (St. Cloud Cathedral) officially signs his Letter of Intent to run at Georgetown University.  MN Milesplit had a chance to catch up with Golebiowski to learn more about his decision, his future goals, and his advice to younger athletes.

What schools did you consider for your post-high school plans?

Along with Georgetown, I was looking at the University of Minnesota, Princeton University, Missouri, Stanford and Notre Dame.

What ultimately let you to commit to the Georgetown?

The coaches and team at Georgetown were great on my visit, and just had that gut-feeling that it was the right place for me. I also fell in love with Washington, D.C. One would think that it's just an urban city with not many options for running, but I was able to do a hilly 12 mile trail run in the city without even running on the roads once! On the academic side of the decision, I couldn't have asked for a better balance between school and athletics.

Have you identified a major or area of study?

I'm not certain, but I plan on studying business while at Georgetown. They have a great business school there!

What is your favorite HS memory as it relates to cross country and track?

I have two favorite memories so far from my high school career. In cross country, it has to be winning the MN Class A State Meet as a team my sophomore year. It was an amazing experience! On the track, my favorite memory would also be from my sophomore year when I ran 4:15 in the 1600m.

What are your goals for our collegiate career?

My goals for my collegiate career are to contribute to my team each year and help in any way I can. I also have goals of becoming an All-American.

What advice would you pass on to an athlete trying to make their college decision?

My advice for an athlete trying to make their college decision would be to consider all of your options, and don't focus too much on one school before giving other schools fair consideration. Also, don't stress too much about the recruiting process. It should be fun!
