Congratulations to the McKinley Tech cast of runners this Indoor season. We recently competed in the DCIAA Invitational in which the Girls team received a 3rd place trophy. The three freshman musketeers led the way with more dazzling performances. Freshman Destiny Nash won the 55 meter dash and 4th place was Melady Brown. The 4x200 Relay Nash, Brown, McKeithan and Jr.Aisha Dozier ran a season best 1:49.08. So Ruth Tesfai also ran her seasonal best in the 1600 and 3200. The 4x400 team of Senior J'niya Butler, Melady Brown, Aisha Dozier and Super freshman Caliyah McKeithan ran a season leading time. The Boys team short-handed in the absence of Denzell Brown are showing signs of life with So. Cassell Robinson and Evan Harris.

Congratulations!! We climbed up that improvable mountain and found gold. The McKinley tech gilrs were sensational and showed what hard work over the years can offer. Its McKinley Tech's first girls DCIAA track Champions! The once in a lifetime performance by senior Ineka Armstead was amazing as she scored 40 points by winning the high jump- 55 dash - 55 hurdles and 300 meter dash. As a group everybody scored championship points led by our senior class of Myracle Weeks, Shakeithia Nicholson, Dominique Matthews, Kristina Jordan and Janae Agnew. The underclassmen showed their flexed muscles by adding support in each event. I am so happy to see this group win and add lifetime memories to their high school career.

Gonzaga’s Maurice Holmes (7.86) and West Springfield’s John Seals (7.86) rounded out the top three. “It’s a good feeling to show that I’m improving with each race that I’m doing,” Kennedy said. “Eventually, I’ll be able to qualify for nationals, hopefully by the season’s end.”
