FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- The Virginia Tech men's and women's cross country teams traveled west to the highly competitive Chile Pepper Invitational hosted by Arkansas. The women faired very well with a fourth place finish (155 pts) as there were led by race winner Marlies Overbeeke, who scorched the 6K course with her time of 20:47.42. Rounding out a formidable top five for the Virginia Ladies were Jessica Morris (16th, 21:36), Morgan Ekemo (39th, 22:03), Kim Milbourn (43rd, 22:09), and Kristy Van Cour (71st, 22:48). Meanwhile, the Tech men finished 17th overall (431 pts) and were led by Mike Lawson's sub 31 10K run (28th, 30:45.62). Teammate L.A. Snead (42nd, 30:59.26) also dipped under 31 minutes, while Mike D'Amato (134th, 32:48), Josiah Oliver (136th, 32:52), and Phil Rogers (170th, 33:33) all had solid showings for the Hokies' top five.
