Olsen Leads Men's Track at Navy Invitational

 

 

 

Josh Olsen led the American University men's indoor track and field team with an IC4A qualifying time in the 3000 meter run on Saturday as the Eagles competed at the Navy Invitational.

Olsen finished second in the event with a time of 8:24.92 while Mark Allen finished fourth (8:28.13). Constantine Matsakis placed sixth (8:41.54), Ian Lutz finished 10th (8:47.86) and Thomas Woermer finished 11th (8:50.95) in the event to round out the field for the Eagles.

Mark Leininger led a trio of American runners in the mile run with a fourth place finish in a time of 4:17.39 as John Pope finished fifth (4:19.59) and Ryan Williams placed seventh (4:26.46). Jake Smyth recorded a 15th place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.66.

American finished sixth in the team standings, posting 19 points, as Navy took home the team title.

American will return to action next week when they compete at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday, January 21.
