Lockhart, who is training through indoors to prepare for the Winter Cross Country Nationals next month, looked comfortably relaxed with his times of 4:21.96 and 9:18.3. Lockhart wasn't the only individual at the meet drawing some attention.
Oakton seniors and American University bound runners Phil Gaeta and Keira Carlstrom ran the two fastest 500 in the nation as Gaeta won the boys race in 1:04 and Carlstrom won the girls' race in 1:16.5. While both runners are considered more distance geared, their 500 times prove they have a great amount of range as well as speed.
Steve Huntzinger continued to show that he is the top shot putter not only in the state, but one of the best in the nation as he threw for 58'06.00".
Centreville showed it's sprint dominance in the 55 meter dash as Daniel Bailey (6.69) and Ken Tynes (6.72) finished 1-2.
Lake Braddock's Craig Gallimore was a double winner in the 55 meter hurdles (7.66) and 300 meter dash (35.3).
Bruin teammate Korey Gross won the triple jump with a leap of 44'01.75"
Thomas Edison's Joel Alvarenga won out in a duel with Chantilly's Jay Kircher at 13 feet in the pole vault.
It was very apparent who are the top two girls' teams in the Northern Region at the meet as Lake Braddock and Oakton were at the top in almost every event.
Oakton's Kathleen Woody clocked the fastest 55 meter time in the state as she ran away with the event in a time of 7.10.
Kathleen's sister, Sarah, was also a winner as she took the high jump with a mark of 5'04.00".
Jenee Moore cracked 17 feet in the long jump (17'00.00") to win that event for the Lady Cougars of Oakton.
The Lady Bruins of Lake Braddock also got some serious contributions out of their athletes in the field events. Catherine Muehleib won the shot put fairly easily with her throw of 35'00.50". Abby McGrath won the pole vault with a vault of 8'06.00".
Alexandra Van Heuven was victorious in both the triple jump (17'00.00") and 55 meter hurdles (8.66).
The well-rounded Lake Braddock attack also performed well in the running events. The 4x200 won with a time of 1:46.71 and the 4x400 took second to Woodrow Wilson of Maryland with a time of 4:13.2.
The Thomas Jefferson girls put together a strong 4x800 squad to just hold off Woodrow Wilson for the win (9:52.64).
Kristin Hart of Herndon and Kelly Swain of Lake Braddock battled it out in the 1600 as the two exchanged leads multiple times. However, Hart made one last strong move that Swain was unable to counter as she won with a fast time of 5:12.67. Swain finished with a time of 5:16.88.
It was also Herndon over Lake Braddock in the 1000 as sophomore Heather Fisher took the win (3:07) over freshmen Kelsey Snowden (3:09.9).
The Robinson girls dominated the 3200 meter run as they took the first three places with Joanna Rodgers (11:37.7), Sam Ference (12:08.5), and Abby Ward (12:14.1).
