Fajr Kelly Win 4 Races At DCIAA Champs!

Theodore Roosevelt junior Fajr Kelly is no stranger to putting on impressive shows with triples and quadruples in championship meets for D.C. track fans, but she may have went to another level on Wednesday at the DCIAA Indoor Championships. Kelly won 4 individual titles capping off her day winning the 300 meter dash in a 40.35 personal best performance.

Without a seed time since she had not run the event at all this season, Kelly was forced to try and win the 300 meter dash by running out of the slowest heat of them racing virtually by herself with only the clock to push her. The end result was quite impressive considering just over the few hours prior she had already raced and won the 1600 in 5:32, 500 in 1:18.18, and 800 in 2:32.04.

None of those three races required Kelly to race at full tilt and simply needed only to race to win, although Woodrow Wilson's Ava Nicely did challenge her for a good portion of the 1600 before Kelly was able to use her superior speed to kick away on the last lap.

Kelly has already ran indoor personal bests this season for the 400 (56.95), 500 (1:15.51), 800 (2:15.71), and 1600 (5:24). She scored a pair of major victories in winning the Montgomery Invitational's 500 and 800 on January 11th against some of the top competition in Maryland and Northern Virginia.

She currently ranks in the top 50 in the nation for the 500 (15th), 800 (21st), 400 (39th), and 300 (43rd) as she briefly owned the nation's fastest time in the 800 early in December.

What can she do for an encore at the DCSAA Championships coming up on February 11th when add into the D.C. private schools into the mix?
