Ziyah Holman Wins Texas A&M 400 In 54.97

Georgetown Day School's Ziyah Holman went down to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas A&M High School this past weekend. Always great competition found at the event in a rare opportunity for Texas high school athletes to compete indoors, Holman represented the District of Columbia well in winning the 400 meter dash with a 54.97 season opening performance.

She had some competition to push in her in Chermariea Hardy of Clear Falls High School (TX), who was an AAU Junior Olympic Games national runner-up in the event for her age group this past summer. Holman was ultimately able to pull ahead of Hardy to bring back a gold medal to the DMV.

It was Holman's first race of her senior year after finishing off her junior year running a 52.12 PR to finish 3rd at the US Junior Nationals, which was preceded by a 52.62 victory at the Brooks PR Invitational as she had two consecutive 52 second performances to finish her outdoor season strong.

The University of Michigan commit now ranks US #4 in the event after the performance this past weekend and will be racing next this weekend in some highly anticipated and loaded races at the VA Showcase in Lynchburg, Virginia.
