Weekend Recap Boys' Edition

In case you missed anything on the guys side here is your recap.

VTCA

Finally we got to see Western Albemarle's top squad in action. They are led by Joe Hawkes and Jack Eliason who not only went 1-2 in the race but now rank VA #1 and VA #2 as well. They went 15:28 and 15:29 on the decently fast Poco course. Their 1-2 finish also helped them run away with the team title by 10 points over Deep Run

Deep Run, who finished second as a team, also finished third individually with Colby Burcham running 15:48. Glen Allen was third as a team.

SE District Invite

Cancellations definitely helped this invitational with the late addition of Western Branch and Ocean Lakes. Ultimately it was those two teams running away with the 1-2 finish, OL winning. They also led the meet individually as well.

Taking home the individual gold was Tyler Lipps of OL. His time of 16:08 was nothing shocking but then again the course was very soft. He could very well have run 15:30 if the course was firm. Chase Osborne was behind him in 16:11 and Will Spollen was third in 16:19.

DCXC

The DCXC invitational was dominated by the boys from VA. Over the four "A" races VA placed 10 athletes inside of the top four. That means VA has 10/16 top four finishers. Below are all the top VA finishers at DCXC.

Team wise, John Champ won the junior boys' competition and Grafton won both the freshmen and sophomore divisions.

CARLISLE (PA)

Up in PA, VA was also running well. Rylan Pettit of Woodgrove tallied up a victory by winning the Champions' race in 16:09 while Blacksburg's boys squad finished third in the Challenge Division. The Challenge Division was the top division at this meet.

Paul Short (PA)

There were three VA teams competing this weekend at Paul Short. We had Colonial Forge, Lee-Davis, and Lake Braddock all competing. The top team finisher was Lake Braddock who finished 6th amongst the 40+ teams in the Brown Division. The top individual finisher was Avery Witherow of Lee-Davis who finished in 16:17 (16th).

Lake Braddock's top finisher was Josh Putz who went 16:34. Edward Cerne was next for the Bruins in 16:37 and just behind him was Alex Asady in 16:39.

McQuaid (NY)

Finally up in NY we had West Springfield taking on some of the best teams in the country. Their performance saw them finish third as a team on the girls' side and seven on the boys'. What was also very impressive for both lineups was how consistent they were as a unit. It was not just a singular performance but constant and sustained speed across the board that saw them finishing this high amongst great competitors.
