VOTE: Who Was The Maryland Boys XC Runner Of The Week?

Vote below for Maryland's Week #2 Boys XC Runner of the Week from the September 10th weekend of meets. This week's nominees includes Richard Montgomery's Rohann Asfaw, Oakland Mills' Joey Navarro, Smithsburg's Will Merritt, Winters Mills' Devon Caples St. Andrews' Luke Armbruster and the B-CC duo of Adam Nakasaka and Josh Fry.

Oakland Mills senior Joey Navarro kicked off his 2016 cross country season with a bang on Saturday with a win at the Howard County Invitational. Not only did he beat the heat, but he also outlasted a star-studded field including Mt. St. Joe's Hunter Petrik and River Hill's Rahul Reddy, plus many more. Over at the Rebel Invitational at South Hagerstown High School, Smithsburg senior Will Merritt took care of business, winning with a time of 16:28.60.

Richard Montgomery's Rohann Asfaw found his way onto the list again with his second dominant performance in as many weeks, this time in the large school race at the Track and Trail Invitational. Next up: the Oatlands Invitational, where he will see a step up in competition as he will go toe-to-toe with some of Virginia's best. In the small school race, it was Winters Mill's Devon Caples pulling out the victory in some intense afternoon heat with a final time of 17:19.40.

Earlier in the week, the B-CC duo of juniors Adam Nakasaka and Josh Fry competed at the Woodward Relays, which features pairs completing alternating mile repeats. Even in the heat they finished with an overall time of 34:25, or about 17:12 for three miles each on the difficult Georgetown Prep course. Over at the Bullis Invitational, St. Andrew's junior Luke Armbruster paced the field with a winning time of 17:05.90.

Voting closes at 10 PM on Thursday! Voting is unlimited and feel free to share with your coaches, family, friends, teammates, teachers, and more!
