To: Cross Country Coaches in the District of Columbia:
Your teams are cordially invited to participate in the 5nd Annual Running of the Ron Jenkins Invitational. This is a terrific chance for your athletes to run on the historic grounds of "Soldiers Home". The course provides an excellent opportunity for your teams to further prepare themselves for their upcoming championships.
Schedule
10:00 am to 11:30 am: Teams arrive to familiarize themselves with the course
12:00 Elementary Boys
12:30 Elementary Girls
1:00 Middle Boys
1:30 Middle Girls
2:00 High School Girls
2:40 High School Boys
Note: We will make every attempt to keep strictly to this schedule, so please be there in plenty of time. Days are getting shorter and we need to finish in daylight!
Awards
Medals will be given to the top 15 finishers in each category. There will be no team awards given.
Course
The course winds through the grounds of AFRH. The terrain is moderately hilly with paths and grass.
Distances: Elem. 3.13 km; MS 3.97 km; HS 5.0 km. (MS distances subject to change.)
Entry Procedure
Entry for this event is free, courtesy of the athletic departments of Woodrow Wilson HS and Alice Deal MS. Register at D.C.milesplit.com. Deadline is Saturday, October 7th at 8:00pm. There is no limit to the number of runners
a team may enter. We will use standard cross-country scoring: first 5 runners score, next 2 can displace.
Timing
All events will be scored using chip timing. Please allow plenty of time to pick up numbers (with chips) and affix them on the athletes' shoe.
Parking
Please follow the directions of the parking volunteers! They are there to assist and facilitate a smooth parking experience for everyone.
Directions
The AFRH is located at Rock Creek Church Rd. & Upshur St., N.W. Washington DC 20011. Please enter through the Randolph St. entrance which is also located off of Rock Creek Church Rd. just south of the Upshur St. entrance.
