Rising star Ochan pulls off only quad at the Group Championships Jun 04, 2017

Interview and Article by Jim LambertFull Results | Photos (Coming) | Videos There were lots of track and field stars that were triple winners at the NJSIAA Group Championships this weekend, but there was only one who pulled off the quad.Her name is Rebecca Ochan, a freshman at Highland Park who struck gold four times to lead the her team to its first state Group 1 title in 37 years.On Friday, Ochan won the 400 in a personal best 56.53, and then on Saturday she captured the 200 in a personal best 25.01, won the long jump with an 18-5 ¾, and anchored the winning 4x400 (3:56.73).When the dust settled at Silver Eagle Stadium in Egg Harbor, Highland Park racked up 57 points to defeat Park Ridge and Hasbrouck Heights, which tied for second with 34.

Interview and Write-up by Jim Lambert Full Results | Photos | Videos Karcher becomes first boy to win three events in Group 1 in 18 yearsOne of the biggest stars of the NJSIAA Group Championships this weekend was Ken Karcher of Maple Shade.Check out what the Monmouth University-bound Karcher did in the Group 1 competition over the two days at Silver Eagle Stadium in Egg Harbor.On Friday, he won the 400 hurdles in a personal best 55.03 and the 400 in 48.75. Then on Saturday, he finished off a very rare triple by winning the 200 in 22.03.Karcher is the first boy to win three individual events at the State Group 1 meet since Brad Becker of Spotswood won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 in 1999.You can watch all three of his races here: 200m - 400m - 400m Hurdles
