Maeve Stiles Leads Maury To 1st State Meet in 23 Years!

The 23 year drought is over thanks to Maury's Maeve Stiles. The Maury junior not only has led her team back to Great Meadow and States but also took home the Region 5A crown.

Maeve Stiles Athlete Profile

Maury has been on the rise in track for the past few years. They have contended very well with Nansemond River and actually had a couple shots to knock them off of the top. Their XC program though has waited 23 years to get back to the state meet. As of Wednesday though, the wait is over.

Despite facing a really tough strep throat diagnosis and even getting sent home the day before, Maeve Stiles braved the illness and took to the XC course.

At Bell's Mill Park in Chesapeake she simply took care of business. She opened a big lead early and never looked back. She ultimately 19:10 to take home the victory. Her best time thus far this season was her 18:45 at MileStat.com XC.

Maeve has made the state meet as an individual now all three years of high school. She has also now made the state meet in four different sports (track, indoor track, swimming, XC). This will be her first time though at XC States with teammates.
