Nation's Top Returning Hurdler Eric Edwards Commits To Oregon


With the commitment of Langham Creek (Texas) High senior Eric Edwards on Monday, the University of Oregon is adding yet another highly touted hurdler to its ensemble of stars next fall. 

This June, Edwards set a junior class national record in the 110m hurdles, posting a time of 13.32 seconds at the USA track and field junior championships. He later competed at the Pan American Junior Championships in Peru, where he won a championship in 13.33 seconds (-0.6). 

Edwards also won his first UIL class 6A state championship in Texas and in the 100mH in a time of 13.39. He posted four times under 13.40 seconds over his junior season. 

He finished third in the 300m hurdles at the Great Southwest Classic, posting a PB and U.S. No. 2 time of 36.26. He was third at the state championships in the same event. 

In June, he posted a PB and U.S. No. 3 mark of 52.21 seconds in the 400m hurdles at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, finishing fourth.
