Don't disregard this meet when multiple state rankings were posted this weekend. This was another opportunity for athletes to reach their goals and shatter personal records and they did just that!

Results

Sprints

Kenya Merritt won the girls 100m leading away from the pack in 12.42 followed by Ji'Mie Womack 12.67. There was a 0.02 difference between 1st and 3rd in the boys 100m. Shelton Todd took the win with his dip of 10.82 followed behind Caiden Newsome 10.83 and Jawon Blue 10.84. Kaylyn Johnson 25.53 won the girls 200m over Samiah Onyekwere-Bucey 25.76. Shelton Todd comes for another gold in the boys 200m in 22.03! Jawon Blue 22.16 earned another medal as well earning silver. Nikiyah Williams won the girls 400m in 57.20 and Onyekwere-Bucey got another silver running 57.90. Alpha Balde MD #8 set a new meet record in the boys 400m with 49.03 followed by Brandon Alston 49.24! Freshman Toni Benton-Hunter set a girls 400m freshman meet record with 58.82. Malachi Walton 51.85 won the 400m boys freshman. 

Hurdles

Justin DeVaughn was the star of hurdles MD #6 in 110mH and #14 in 300mH! He won the 100mH in a time of 14.42 to start the day. He came back to win the 300mH in 39.77. Damon Williams placed 2nd in the 110mH in 15.38. DeAndre Thomas has a close finish of 2nd in the 300mH of 39.92. Jaelynn Blackwell and Skye Mitchell teammates went 1 and 2 all day! Blackwell set a meet record of 14.74 in the 100mH to win ahead of Mitchell 15.27. Blackwell 45.98 won her another gold to win the 300mH and Mitchell came 2nd 47.01.

Distance

Rebecca Khoury won the girls 1600m in 5:49.62 followed by Carmen Walker 5:52.45. John Field 4:34.79 and Elliot Palmer go one and two in the boys 1600m. Anna Wendt set the girls meet record in the 3200m at 12:03.51 winning by over a minute! Teammate Kieran Mischke followed in her footsteps and set his own meet record for the boys 3200m at 9:41.93. Their fellow teammate Cecilia Van Lierop 2:25.06 took the win in the girls 800m by 10 seconds! Towson is strong in distance because Hunter Parsons finished the boys 800m in 2:00.81 in front of Malachi Patterson 2:02.30.

Field

Anaya Lowder MD #11 jumps 5-02.00 to win girls high jump. Jaelynn Blackwell 5-00.00 earned silver. Ty'Shawn Ewings and Isiah Tancemore tied for MD #6 both jumping 6-02.00 in boys high jump! Julia Beatty was the only competitor in pole vault with a height of 8-06.00! Christen Johnson won the boys pole vault with 9-06.00. Savion Witherspoon MD #10 set a meet record jump of 22-02.75 to win long jump. Myles Taylor took 2nd with 21-11.00. Kymia Bridgett set her own triple jump meet record of 36-06.00 followed by Zaniya Gavins 35-00.00. Jaylin Blackwell MD #3 set his triple jump meet record of 45-02.00 to win followed by Sean Reece 42-09.75. Bridgett set her 2nd meet record of the day in long jump with 17-04.50! Indie Wallace-Persaud 17-01.25 earned silver. Chimdy Onoh MD #2 won boys shot put with a mark of 60-03.00 setting a meet record. Ericka Jackson MD #2 won the girls shot put with 39-05.00. Cierra Gray 37-07.50 MD #5 got silver. Onoh won his 2nd gold in discus throw with 146-0

Relays

Dunbar girls MD #9 set a meet record in the 4x100 48.80. Franklin High School boys won the 4x100 in 43.25. Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical girls won the 4x400 in 4:07.71. Mervo boys MD #8 followed their teammates and took the win in the 4x400 in 3:22.3 with a meet record! Woodlawn girls took the 4x800 win in 10:28.76. Franklin boys won another gold in the 4x800 with a meet record of 8:21.24.

There were too many meet records to count! Don't overlook this meet or the talented athletes that came to compete. This is one meet closer to states and good luck to those who qualified and who are still trying to reach that goal!
